Who may avail of AKSYON assistance?
OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker): A Filipino who is to be engaged, is engaged, or has been engaged in remunerated activity in a country of which he or she is not an immigrant, citizen, or permanent resident, whether land-based or sea-based, regardless of documentation status. This includes a person contracted for overseas employment who has yet to leave the Philippines. Excludes Filipinos under government-recognized exchange visitor programs for cultural and educational purposes.
OFW in Distress: An OFW, regardless of immigration status, who has a medical, psychosocial, or legal problem, or is experiencing abuse or exploitation (including victims of illegal recruitment and/or trafficking in persons), or whose human rights are being violated, or is in a country in actual or potential war, civil unrest, pandemic, or other analogous circumstances, and requires medical treatment, hospitalization, counseling, legal representation, rescue, repatriation, or any other kind of analogous intervention.
OFW Family: If the OFW is determined eligible, his or her family is automatically eligible. The order of succession under the Civil Code of the Philippines shall be observed for financial assistance beneficiaries. This includes solo parents as defined under RA 11861 (Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act).
OFW-Seafarer: Also eligible pursuant to Republic Act No. 12021 (Magna Carta of Filipino Seafarers) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.
